Aircraft Tire Warranty & Traceability Information
Learn what OEM traceability and release documentation is normally supplied with aircraft tires purchased through DMI Aviation, how manufacturer warranty claims are handled, and what information helps us support your claim efficiently.
OEM Documentation & Traceability
DMI Aviation supplies aircraft tires with the applicable OEM traceability and release documentation associated with the product and source. Documentation can vary by manufacturer, condition, production or retread facility, and regulatory release.
New Aircraft Tires
DMI's normal Goodyear supply includes OEM traceability and an OEM-issued FAA 8130-3 airworthiness approval tag.
New Aircraft Tires
New Michelin aircraft tires supplied by DMI normally include OEM traceability and an EASA Form 1.
RP / Retreaded or Repaired Tires
Michelin RP tires include OEM traceability. The release is typically an FAA 8130-3 when the work is completed in the United States; in some cases an EASA Form 1 may be issued instead.
Aircraft Tires
Dunlop aircraft tires are supplied with OEM traceability and the supporting documentation applicable to the OEM supply and release.
New Aircraft Tires
DMI's applicable new Bridgestone supply includes OEM traceability and a JCAB release package that may include FAA and EASA release information.
Retreaded Aircraft Tires
Retreaded Bridgestone tires are supplied with OEM traceability and the applicable repair-station release documentation. DMI's normal supply may include FAA 8130-3 and EASA dual-release documentation.
Manufacturer Warranty Support
Aircraft tire warranties are issued and administered by the applicable manufacturer. DMI Aviation assists our customers throughout the claim process by gathering the required information, coordinating directly with the OEM, and communicating the manufacturer's requested next steps.
Warranty eligibility is determined by the manufacturer and may depend on the nature of the condition, serial number, service history, remaining tread, installation and maintenance practices, inspection findings, and other factors covered by the manufacturer's current warranty terms.
How to Start a Warranty Claim
Contact DMI before returning, repairing, scrapping, or otherwise disposing of a tire. The tire and its identification markings should be preserved until the manufacturer provides instructions.
Contact DMI
Send the part number, complete tire serial number, and a description of the issue to our team.
Send Supporting Information
Include clear photographs and as much service, installation, removal, aircraft, and maintenance information as is available.
DMI Coordinates With the OEM
We submit and support the claim with the applicable manufacturer and communicate any additional inspection, testing, documentation, return, or disposition requirements.
Manufacturer Review & Resolution
The manufacturer determines warranty eligibility and the applicable remedy, which may include credit, allowance, repair, replacement, or another disposition permitted under its warranty terms.
Information That Helps Us Process Your Claim
- Part number and complete tire serial number, including clear photos of the sidewall markings.
- DMI invoice, sales order, or purchase reference, when available.
- Aircraft type/model and tire position — nose/main and exact position when applicable.
- Installation and removal information, including dates, cycles/landings or hours when available.
- Remaining tread or skid depth, when applicable.
- Description of the condition, including when and how it was discovered.
- Photographs of the full tire, affected area, tread, sidewall/serial markings, bead or innerliner when relevant, and the wheel/assembly if related to the issue.
- Shop findings or testing already performed, such as air-retention, balance, leak, or wheel checks.
Important: Returning the Tire
Manufacturers typically request that a tire involved in a warranty claim be retained and may request that it be physically returned for inspection. Do not ship, scrap, or dispose of the tire until DMI provides instructions.
DMI will work directly with the manufacturer and make every reasonable effort to resolve the claim without requiring a physical return when the OEM is willing to evaluate the condition through photographs, documentation, testing, local inspection, or an OEM-authorized local disposition.
If the manufacturer ultimately requires the tire to be physically returned, the freight cost associated with returning the tire is the customer's responsibility unless otherwise agreed in writing.
